Decos Magic range of wall panels added

We have just added the Magic range from Decos to our growing list of wall panel products.





There are three colours to choose from: white, grey and black. The black panel, in particular can make a very dramatic statement, especially if used as a contrast in a contained area - such as a shower cubicle.

The panels are 250mm wide and are 2.7mm long. They are available in packs of four priced at £53.56 per pack (at time of this post)

Customer Gallery Update

We have had another bath of images in for our customer gallery and the first ones have been added to the site - see our gallery for more details.



Mr Simpson's shower room (above) looks amazing, having used Mosaic Beige Sand panelling for his shower room makeover.

We are also in the process of adding another gallery to our Outasight section showing the concealed shower curtain system in use by our customers.

Outasight closed for one week

The manufacturers of the Outasight shower barrier will be closed for an Autumn break on Thursday 20th October and will re-opn on Monday 31st Otc.

Have ordered extra stock to cover this period but should you require spares etc. your order will not be processed until the manufactuers return.

100% design

We attended the recent 100% Design exhibition in Earls Court to see the latest ideas from the design world.

The exhibition was not purely targetting the building industry but featured design ideas from all market sectors making for an interesting show.

One of the items that stood out that was actually from the bathroom industry was a flat sided perspex bath that gave the impression of a continuous line (click image below for expanded view).



This is a simple yet elegant example of bathroom design at its very best.

Other interesting ideas were wall panelling made from recyled plastic, in which the type and colour of the items recycled form the pattern of the panel, wooden baths and teak wall tiles.

You can pay online whereby you will be transferred over to the Paypal secure payment system to enter your credit card details. You do not have to open a Paypal account, although you can use your account if you already have one.

Labo wall panel

We have been selling Labo wall panels from Decos for some time now and they have proved to be very popular with our customers.

Initially we sold the 4.5 metre length panels in two colours Ultra White and Classic White, but we have have now added a new size to the range - 2.6 metres.






The new panels are £38.12 for a pack of 4 panels plus carriage. They are ideal for use on walls and ceiling and are ideal if you want to clad inside a shower cubicle without adding any extra colour to your overall bathroom design.

Each shower wall panel slots into the next one using a tongue and groove system ensuring a completely waterproof surface. Stock Levels

Stock levels for both Grosfillex and Decos waterproof wall panelling are now back to normal following the Summer shutdowns by both manufactuers.

Although the UK importers did an excellent job of trying to pre-guess the stocks needed to see them through the shutdown, there are always one or two products that get cleaned out unexpectantly, and consequently some of the panelling orders had to go on back order.

There have all been cleared and we are all now raring to go.

Outasight - height issues

The Outasight concealed shower curtain system is suitable for use in conjunction with an overbath shower.

One problem that some people ask about is whether the unit is easy to operate if you are below average height.




Opening the unit is easy as the gas strut opens pushes the arm up automatically, and the curtain is pulled out from the middle, not the top. Shorter people sometime find it easier to close the unit while still standing in the bath, as this will give you an extra couple of inches of reach. The overall height will be 1.4mt (about 4' 6") plus the depth of your bath.

An additional, natural looking panel

We previously posted regarding panels that give a natural stone effect - one of the most popular current trends in bathroom design. We have recently added a third panel suitable for this type of scheme - Tinto Desert.




Although the above image shows the Sky Blue and Glacier options it is also available in Desert which gives an extremely pleasing, light beige stone effect.

Finishing Off Ceiling Cladding

A lot of our previous posts have been about ceiling cladding - and so's this one!



A couple of people have asked about coving trims to use with our ceiling cladding products. At present we do not have any of these profiles available via the web site but they are available from the manufacturers. We will be adding these to the site soon - in the meantime please get in touch by phone or e-mail if you are interested in these products.

One of the reasons we held back on coving trims is that some of them cannot be fitted to ceiling panels - they have to be used in conjunction with wall panelling. If you are not installing wall cladding this is a bit of a problem. The coving trims can be used if you remove the tab and stick it in place with adhesive, but this rather defeats the object, and you could just as easily use any other form of coving.

Grosfillex do offer a solution with their coving as it comes in two parts with the backing put in place before the ceiling cladding is fitted, and the finishing trim is clipped in place after installation.



Grosfillex's Multi-Trim can also be used as a clip on edging and, again, is a two part product, enabling the finishing profile to be fitted after the ceiling is installed.

Any colour, as long as it's white

Despite having many different colours and finishes in our range white still seems to be very popular. It is the perfect choice for use on ceilings but many customers opt for white when they come to selecting wall panelling as well.

For this reason we have quite a few different white wall and ceiling panels in our range to try and ensure we have something for everyone.

Ceiling Panels

Many ceilings in older properties can prove problematic especially in bathrooms where the moist conditions can lead to damp patches or mould growth.

All of the panels sold by The Bathroom Marquee are suitable for use on ceilings but some look better than others, there is a list of panels that we think work well at the bottom of our ceiling cladding page.

If you have an older, Victorian style property some of the white panels that we offer can look a little to stark in colour, so luckily Decos produce a Classic White panel in their Labo range that is ideally suited to the sympathetic refurbishment of period style bathrooms.

New Panelling Added

We have just added the Tinto range from Decos to our inventory.

There currently three colours in this range offered by The Bathroom Marquee: Desert, Sky Blue and Glacier.

This offers our customers a little more choice for those looking for a matt finish wall panel as most of the other panels tend to be a gloss finish.





The colours lend themselves well to the modern bathroom setting but, being matt, they are also perfectly suitable for use in other rooms around the home, as can be seen from the bedroom setting in the photo.

As with all of our wall panels they are totally waterproof and can be used in shower rooms, wet rooms and shower cubicles.

Bathroom Windows

You've installed your new suite. You've fitted out your bathroom with waterproof wall panelling. You've fitted new bathroom accessories. Now, what do you do with the window? Roller blinds? Venetian Blinds? Curtains?

There are some ideas over at UK TV Style on their "ask the expert" section.

When using our decorative wall panelling in bathrooms you might have enough off-cuts left over to line the window reveals but it is always worth allowing at least one extra panel for this (you will also need an external corner trim for the joint between the walls and the the reveal).

Any blinds, curtains or screen that you then put up can be fixed through the panels using one of the fixing methods shown in our installation section.

Concealed Shower Curtain System

We have just finished a complete revamp of the Outasight section of our web site, now branded as a concealed shower curtain system.

The initial landing page now has images of a white Outasight displayed on some of our Ambiance White Wood bathroom cladding.



The image on the left shows exectly how neat the Outasight is once installed, with the right hand image showing the neatly stowed shower curtain.

All of the pages have had a "makeover" with plenty of new images added to try and give potential customers a better view of this amazing product in action.

Bathroom and Kitchen Expo

I attended the Bathroom and Kitchen Expo show at the Excell Centre in London's Docklands last week.

Overall it was a bit of a disappointment, as there was nothing that really caught my attention. I think the main problem is that there are just too many of these events and the cost to exhibitors is too high. You therefore just tend to get the big, market leading companies displaying with many of the samller (and usually more interesting) exhibitors shying away.

As usual most of the displays looked exactly the same with everybody opting for the clean/geometric/organic/stone/white look although I did hear a new word used to describe this attractive but rather bland trend - volcanic(?)

Although there were quite a few bathroom and shower manufactureres displaying their wares bathroom wall and flooring manufacturers were thinner on the ground.

All in all not the most successful of days out but you have to attend these events just in case you miss out on something!
