White is by far the most common colour used in bathrooms. But over-using white will result in the room looking a little "clinical". There are many ways that you can add a touch of colour to your bathroom - either through decoration or via the installed components.
Blinds, towels, rugs and shower curtains will instantly splash some colour around the room. The big advantage of using these items to colourise your design is that they are easy to replace. So if in a few years time you fancy a change you simply need to replace a few of these items and hey presto you have a changed room.
Sanitaryware (baths, basins, toilet etc.) are usually supplied in white so there is not much scope to alter these colouring here. The 70's saw the introduction of stronger colours such as Avocado but these fell out of favour.
If you have room for vanity unit then this is a great way of adding a splash of colour to the room. There are many different designs available such as this beautiful range from Utopia:

The only issue with this approach is once you have committed to a colour you are stuck with it.
