Bali Grey Panels Discontinued

Bali Grey panels have been discontinued by the manufacturer, Decos.

These panels were originally made as a special order for a large contract that was subsequently cancelled. The batch was sold off and proved to be very popular. The manufacturers ran another batch but have now decided not to run it again so no further stock will be available of this design.

This is a real shame as Bali Grey has been one of our customers' favourites since it was introduced. There is, however, a very similar alternative product in Spaceline Silver Grey.

We are hoping to add a new panel as an alternative to Bali Grey in the very near future - check back here for details or contact our sales office on 029 20560949

Replacing A Damaged Wall Panel

A customer recently asked us if it is possible to replace a damaged panel without having to remove all of the other panels on the wall. It is possible to replace a panel in-situ but it can be a bit fiddly. This solution only works for hollow section pvc cladding - it does not apply to rigid laminate panels.

Remove the old panel by cutting in into bits on the wall and removing it and any adhesive to leave a smooth surface. The replacement panel must then be cut down its length on the back to enable it to bend. The panel is then bent out into a curve and sprung into place.

If the tongue or groove snags on any hidden protrubences they will need to trimmed off or the obstructions removed (a small piece of panelling can be used to slot into the existing tongue and groove to highlight their position). Once you are confident that the new panel fits it can be stuck in place.

The biggest problem faced is trying to match the panel as there can be variations between batches which can be considerable if the panels have been in place for some time. If this proved too problematic the alternatives are to panel the whole wall with new panels or if the panels cannot be matched you can panel the whole wall with a contrast colour to make a feature wall.

New Bathroom Ceiling Panel

We have recently added a new panel to our range - Belmont Grey Ash:

This is a white woodgrain effect panel available in two lengths: 2.7m and 5m. Its lightweight construction, matt finish and availability in a choice of lengths make it ideal for use on a bathroom ceiling but could work equally well on bathroom walls or inside a shower cubicle as it is totally waterproof. The woodgrain effect is a printed finish so the panel is smooth and easy to wipe over. The above image shows Belmont White Ash used in conjunction with Decos Mosaic wall panels in Glacier Grey and Decos Coving Trim.

Using uPVC panels on a bathroom ceiling has many benefits over more traditional methods. Paint, plaster, texturing compounds or timber finishes are all susceptable to mould problems which can require extensive maintenance is not cured. Our ceiling cladding products are warm to the touch and waterproof so they do not allow mould to grow. Couple this to their good looks and easy to installation and you have the perfect solution to any problem bathroom ceiling.

Celupanel Availability

The availability of the Celupanel offer we were running has been severely affected by a recent break-in at the distributors warehouse. All of the Nova and Vermont panels were taken but there is still stock left of the Pink Marble and a very small quantity of the Black Marble left.

These stocks were a one-off deal so they will not be available again but the distributors have added a new low cost range which we will be adding to the web site soon.

Outasight Price Increase

We have had to increase the price of the Outasight concealed shower curtain system.

We absorbed several previous small increases, we did not increase the retail price with the VAt change at the begining of the year and have held the price for as long as possible but we now have had no option but to put the price up.

We still feel this provides great value for money as the Outasight is a very well engineered bit of kit and does the job perfectly.

Full Width Shower Panels

We will shortly be adding a new range of 1 metre wide upvc panels to our range.

Many customers request wider panels as they are looking for a wall system with no joins. Until now they would usually have to opt for one of the wood-based system, such Showerwall, but now there is a upvc alternative.

We have seen the new panels and are very impressed. Like the rest of our upvc panels they are of a hollow construction but the large panels are much more solidly constructed with heavy guage upvc (they would be too heavy to use as a ceiling panel).

We will post more details here as soon as we add them to our web site.

Cheap Wall Panel Alert!

Our importers have a large quantity of Celupanel waterproof wall and ceiling panels that they want to move quickly so we have put a special offer up on our website.

This is an attractive range and a very attractive price - with the cladding starting at just £5.75 per panel at the time of posting.

Unusually they are sold in 5's rather than 4's but they still offer superb value for money, even with 5 in a pack they are cheaper than virtually all of our other panels.

We are cannot offer any guarantees about the long term availability of these panels so we would recommend they are bough on a "when it's gone it's gone" basis and make sure you have enough to complete the job.

Moasic Onyx Rose

Following the decision to cease production of Mosaic Onyx Rose panels the manufacturers have now come to the end of the existing stock so we have now had to withdraw our special offer on this product as there is no more available. The panels were sold on a "while stocks last" and the sell off has been very successful: the stock lasted quite a few months but is sadly no more.

Mosaic Azure Blue, Beige Sand and Glacier Grey are still available and have not been discontued.

We will be closing at 3.00pm on Wed 21st July and will re-open on Monday 2nd August.

Tile Effect Panel

We have just added a new panel to our website - Florentine 25 tile-effect waterproof wall panels:

Each panel appears to be 2 tiles wide with each tile being offset vertically by half a tile to give a staggered effect. Our other tile effect panel, Mineral Beige or Grey Tile Marble, have a butt-jointed appearance with a black joint line but the Florentine panels have a white grout line incorporated in the design.

Although many customers will instantly think of tiles when re-decorating their bathroom many are now switching to cladding the walls as they prefer the easy-clean, no-maintenance advantages of this type of wall covering. The main drawback with bathroom tiles has always been the grout, which can prove to be difficult to keep clean, especially if it is incorrectly specified or applied. The grout line on Florentine tile-effect panels is just part of the printed design so you just wipe over the whole surface when cleaning.

The cladding is available in two colours: grey (left below) or beige (right below)

Florentine tile effect panels are suitable for use in a shower cubicle or wet room and can be fitted to just the shower area or installed around the whole room - the more panels you install the less maintenance required.

Bending Panels Into Corners

We quite often asked if it is possible to bend the panels into corners rather than using a butt joint or a corner trim.

The answer is yes - it is possible but there are downsides to using this method.

We have created a new page with more information on this subject here :
bending panels into corners

The main issue with this installation method is that there are no real advantages. A well sealed butt joint or a joint employing a Corner Trim will be just as waterproof but a lot less fiddly to execute.

Our prefered method for internal corners is to butt join the panels and seal with a good quality silicone. As there is no grout used in the installation of our panels there is nowhere to harbour moisture and so the silicone, if applied correctly, will remain mould-free for years. On lighter coloured panels use a white silicone, on deeper shades use a clear silicone sealant. This will result in a very neat, waterproof finish for the corner and is suitable for use inside showers. If you are concerned about water leaking through the corner joint you can run silicone if the corner first and then push the panels into the wet silicone, encasing the joint in silicone, just wipe off any excess silicone sealant at the joint.

It is also possible (but tricky) to cut the panels for external corners but this involves removal of the webbing from inside the panel leaving the front surface more susceptible to splitting when the panel are bent. Our prefered method for external corner would be to use an angle trim, as available from our website. Another option is to use a tile edge trim. These result in a very neat finish but you have make sure that the panels are cuttin accurately as they to not cover up any slight discrepancies in cutting.

Over Bath Shower

If you are looking to use your bath for showering then the walls will need to covered in a suitable waterproof material. For many the first thing they think of is tiles but there are downsides in using these as can be seen in the following photo.

The main concern is the grout. Bathroom tiles frequently get wet and the grout used to fill the gaps between the tiles can retain moisture enabling mould to grow. Many customers are opting for our waterproof panelling as an alternative to tiles for this application as they use no grout in their installation and there is therefore nowhere to harbour moisture - no moisture equelas no mould.

The following image shows the same bathroom after the tiles have been replaced with our Bali Grey cladding:

The result is a bright, light, attractive surface that requires no maintenance and will look good for years to come after the installation.
